Fort Yargo State Park

Built around an old fort established in 1792 in present day Winder, Fort Yargo is one of the most visited parks in the state of Georgia. Fort
Parks canoeYargo State Park
is a 1,850-acre complex where the whole family can enjoy camping, fishing, swimming, miniature golf, or just a hike through the woods. The park offers an endless array of outdoor activities! For example, mountain bikers and hikers can test their endurance on 18 miles of trails. Cool off in the 260-acre lake, which offers a large swimming beach, fishing and boat ramps. Take in a game of disc golf. (The park’s heavily wooded disc golf course is exceptionally challenging).  Reserve any of the 40 campsites, five yurts, three cottages, five picnic shelters, two group shelters, or the Pioneer Camp.  For a unique camping experience, visitors can reserve lakeside yurts, which are canvas and wooden tents with furniture inside and a fire ring outside.  Within the park is Camp Will-A-Way, a fully accessible recreation area operated by Camp Twin Lakes.
